Obsidian's Longbow technology addresses the critical requirement for global and extended range InfiniBand fabrics. The long-haul InfiniBand Wide-Area-Network is able to efficiently move large data for most high-performance needs. Global WAN links, Metro networks, and Campus networks are now all within the reach of a native InfiniBand fabric.

Since mid-2007 the Longbow Campus — the first model of the C-Series — has enabled the expansion of NASA's Columbia Supercomputer, connecting nodes separated by 1.5km over eight optical links. The C-series is the right choice for joining subnets separated by up to 40km.

The Longbow XR — the first of the X-Series — is designed to join subnets separated by arbitrarily long distances in high-availability applications. That's why the Longbow XR was chosen to be part of the US Naval Research Laboratory's JCTD program.

The latest addition to the Longbow family is the E-Series. The Longbow E100 adds full-speed encryption to global reach range extension and routing.
